How to stay Authentic Through Growth
By now, many of you have followed my brand’s journey to authenticity. Along the way, I’ve discovered powerful practices—through research and reflecting on who I personally am as a leader by tuning into a leadership training series from Harvest Consulting (link) —that have been game-changers for me as I develop my brand. Today, I want to share them with you.
Building a brand isn’t a one-time decision; it’s an ongoing evolution. Think of your brand like a growing child—constantly learning, shifting, and defining itself. At every stage, you have to pause and ask:
| “Who am I? What do I stand for? What is my mission? And how do I show up?”
As I’ve refined my own brand, I’ve found a few guiding principles that make all the difference. Now, let’s get into the actionable steps. Here are some proven ways to keep your brand authentic as it grows.
Revisit Your “Why”- Go back to the core of your business. Why did you start? What impact did you want to make? Authenticity often fades when brands drift from their original purpose. Reconnect with your mission, and let it guide your messaging.
Tell Real Stories- People connect with stories, not perfection. Share your brand’s journey—wins, failures, lessons learned. Whether it’s a behind-the-scenes look or a personal reflection, storytelling builds trust and relatability.
Keep It Consistent- Authenticity isn’t just what you say; it’s how often and where you say it. Make sure your brand voice, values, and visuals are consistent across your website, social media, and events. Consistency feels genuine.
Listen to Your Audience- Engage in real conversations. What do your clients love about your brand? What feedback do they have? Authentic brands grow by listening, not just broadcasting.
Be Clear on Your Values- Define the values your brand stands for—and live them. Whether it’s sustainability, diversity, or innovation, weave those values into everything from marketing campaigns to daily operations.
Simplify Your Message- If your brand message feels forced or complicated, it’s time to simplify. Speak in your natural tone, avoid overused buzzwords, and focus on what truly matters to your audience.
Lastly, Don’t Be Afraid to Evolve- Since I started my business, I have changed my logo three times.
| Authenticity isn’t about staying stagnant—it’s about staying true.
As you and your business grow, allow your brand to evolve with intention and integrity. Embrace the shifts, refine your message, and continue showing up in a way that reflects who you are today. The more aligned your brand is with your purpose, the stronger and more impactful it will be.
